So I got my hands on The Last Wish, the book that introduces us to the witcher. The Last Wish e mai degraba o colectie de short stories (sunt la jumatate so far) cu inca o narativa tying it together. Stilul lui Saprowski e clean and eficent, nu isi bate capul sa descrie personajele sau mediu in prea mult detaliu dar asta nu ma deranjeaza. Povestiile au some very nice twists and it's definetly a dark fantasy setting. He also plays a lot with existing tales we know (de exemplu face o referinta la snow white and the 7 dwarfs dar nu e ce crezi, la fel cu salvatul printeselor incuiate in turnuri). Geralt e categoric un anti-hero, yes he'll kill the monster plaguing your town but only if he gets paid for it, but even so he's fun to read about (he's an aetheist for all intents and purposes and has a low opinion of wizards and such, for a man who hunts monsters Geralt seems to value logic over mumbo jumbo). Definitely worth checking out.
